Frequently Asked Questions

Excessive Southwest Gas charges during the summer months.
SW Gas is one tough outfit. They bill me in the following manner, and it is unconscionable: They assess a huge service charge 12 months per year whether or not you use any gas, which none of the tenants do in the summer. You have the option of having them turn your gas off from May through September. I do not have that option, because I use a small amount of gas the year around. The only thing that uses gas in the various office suites is when you use the furnace. In your case turning off the gas temporarily is the best option if you can make it work with them. Then if you need a bit of heat in early May or late September, you could use a space heater temporarily. In the case of some offices combining with another tenant, the other tenant would have to be on board with the decision. SW Gas will run a test on your equipment to see if there is any other loss. They will not allow me to do it, as I am not the specific client for your account, even though I own the building. They will also give you information on cancelling your account on a temporary basis. Their phone numbers are: 800.832.2555, 775.882.2126. Rebecca in Business Accounts is the person to talk to, if possible.
